i have tried 3 different relays, one being a brand new genuine bmw one so i know the relay is not at fault.

i understand that one of the wires should be an ignition live to open the relay but which one is it and what are the other wires?

thank you in advance!

Thank you but that's made it worse for me!

The relay is switched on a ground that should be a brown wire?!

I don't have a brown wire!

Where am I going wrong?

Is it a simple case that I'm missing the brown wire and I just need to earth one of the pins?

What colours do you have, going to what pin numbers, and what is the age and model of the car?

It's an e21 that has been converted many moons ago.

From what I can see it's just the injection system that has been added rather than the whole engine swapped

It's an m20b20 and was an auto before I got my hands on it.

I'll have to check the pins tomorrow when I'm with the car
