When changing my brakes the other day I noticed a buldge in one of the hoses which has led me to look into changing these rather sharpish.

I was wondering if I should upgrade them to braided hoses. I'm heading off to the Nurburg ring in a couple of months and it won't be the last fast road event I'll be in for sure (unless I write it off).
If I am to purchase braided hoses any advice on which ones to get?

I've had my rear drums changed to discs so I'm not sure if I need the 4 or 6 hose types. :? Thanks in advance for your help.

I've used Hel lines on cars and bikes. I've converted mine to disc rear. Mine needed a 6 line kit. I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Get the 6 line ones only about a tenner between them and change just the front and rears the top rears are a nightmare unless the rear sub frame is off.

Rear discs = 6 line kit. Nothing to do with ABS, as most suppliers seem to think.
There's probably a lot of other E30 owners out there (and car owners in general) that would get quite a shock if they inspected their brake hoses, especially if someone is pressing hard on the pedal at the time.
If you go for braided hose, go for the ones that have stainless ends, as well as the braid, and they must have a platic sheath over the braid to be road legal.
The downside of braided hoses is that you don't get the warning that you have experienced with rubber ones. When a braided hose fails, it fails catastrophically - straight to the scene of the accident catastrophically.
