Hello,

I have a 1988 325i Cabriolet, for a few months it has had an issue, when starting the car it turns over 8-10 times before firing up, it seems to be something to do with the fuel pressure.

It had a new fuel pump in 2011, it had a new fuel pressure regulator 6 months ago, it has also recently had a new battery, new spark plugs and new distributor cap and rotor arm.

If the ignition is only turned off for a couple of minutes it starts straight up again, however if left for 15 mins or more it turns over 8-10 times before starting.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this?

It's losing fuel pressure, which will either be a failed non return valve in the pump, a faulty fuel pressure regulator, one or more leaking injectors, or a simple leak in the fuel supply pipe.
Pressure gauge connected to the fuel supply line is needed to diagnose further. About £10 on Ebay.
