I believe the e36 wishbones will fit the e30? Is there any advantage to this and if so what is the process of fitting these cheers

No advantage at all. Standard E36 wishbones have really crap outer balljoints that seldom last more than a couple of years.

Lots of E36 owners fit E30 versions due to the stronger balljoints.

Only wishbone that's of any use to an E30 is the Evo one if your trying to sort your castor out when fitting E36 5 stud bits.
