Hi, how long would you suggest it would take to remove my cab roof carefully? Is it something to take on as a DIY or not?

Its only held on with 4 bolts from what i remember so very very easy and at most 10 mins work if you have a helper for the lifting.

I assume you are meaning removing the whole frame from the car and not the material from the frame.

There is two bolts either side inside the horseshoe 13mm IIRC you do need to fold the roof in specific directions to get at the bolts but that is very easily worked out.

Be careful though as the roof has shims where each bolt connects which are used to line it all up correctly, so you need to make sure you know how many were in each position so it all lines up correctly when re-fitting.

Sorry, I meant taking the material only off the frame. I need to refurb my roof and didn't want to replace the whole thing. The window is cracked that's all.

You don't need to remove the material from the frame to change the rear window. There's a guide in the wiki - I've done a sew in window before with the frame still on, which is good as the roof is stretched in position when you are working on it.

3 bolts each side that's all. It's very easy and you'll need to move the rear door cards. Make note of how many shims were under each bolt

It's ok laith, I'm new to the e30 scene and want the easiest and most cost effective way of replacing the window. The roof is in really good condition so don't want to waste money. If taking the bolts out to do the roof is cost effective then thanks for the advice.
My mistake for posting and restricting the response.

Cheers bud. I can share with you my experience at least. I used a company in Chessington to replace my rear window. Turns out after reading the how to that replacing it is a bit of a nightmare unless you have the older zip-style window.

The guys there took about 5 hours to do mine and it cost £200 with a 1 year warranty.

Thanks laith, do you have the company name? There's no one in Cumbria who does this type of thing so I may have to send the roof via post.
