I'm trying to help a guy out that can't get his car running after an engine swap (facelift M20 2.0 to 2.5). I don't have the car here and can't get to it to check anything myself. The car cranks over, seems to be overfuelling, no spark. Would these symptoms match the CPS and CID leads being swapped over back to front when plugging them back into the loom? That's what I'm thinking, but don't want to send him on a wild goose chase. Ta

If the CPS is plugged in the wrong socket then you won't get any fuel at all, nor spark. Disconnecting the CID won't really change things other than fuel economy.

Is he absolutely sure he's getting fuel? Are the spark plugs wet? If so, the CPS must be plugged in correctly, and it'll be a problem on the ignition side.
