My '89 Sport has just gone mental.
It Will start with no problem but as soon as the revs are increased it just starts to rev and then drop to idle etc. This results in violent kangarooing up the road and renders the car undriveable.
This has just happend and was driving fine until I stopped and then returned and started the car 15 mins later.
Is this ECU problems as it is definately electrical as the temp and mpg gauges also go mad.
any help is appreciated

Read the first part of your post, and was going to say ICV (idle control valve), but then, reading the rest of your post, looks like you may have some kind of electrical feed problem.
Connect a 12V lamp from the ignition coil positive terminal to the car bodywork, and check that it remains lit while the fault is occuring, and try a new main DME relay. (Under cover in front of LH suspension turret. Room for three relays, but probably only two fitted. The one you want has several red and red/another colour wires).
