Hi all
I've been told that joining the negative and the positive ends (without the battery) would clear any stored by the ECU faults and restore the factory default settings.
Does anyone know what exactly happens and for how long should it be done ?

M20B20 from 85, in France.
(I read this somewhere on the forum but can't find it anymore and thought it is the same for all petrol ECU equipped cars?)

don't think your ECU is clever enough for fault codes. AFAIK, it's only the emissions equipped US models that have fault codes.
