DON'T TOUCH THE AFM!
If your car has rich running and idle problems, read this:

DO NOT ADJUST THE AFM! It was set correctly at the factory, and is still set correctly now, unless some muppet has been at it in the past.
Your car has a fault, or faults that need to be found and fixed. Adding another fault of an incorrectly set AFM isn't going to help one bit, although the adjustment might well improve things over what they are now.
This is a very simple engine with a very simple management system, and a logical approach will soon sort it out. Above all, don't dive in changing random parts like you have already - the chances are you'll introduce more faults.
How do you know you're car is running rich? What was the colour of the tips of the spark plugs you removed?
When everything has been checked and is guaranteed to be working as it should, including the injectors, then there may be a small benefit from connecting the exhaust up to a gas analyser and making a small adjustment to the AFM, but until then, leave well alone.

Fuel smell from the exhaust means nothing, other than unburnt fuel is passing through. This can be a rich mixture, leaving excess fuel unburnt, a weak mixture, where fuel fails to ignite because it's too weak, or one cylinder with a normal mixture that isn't being burnt because of lack of/weak spark or compression.
If the AFM has been adjusted, then you either need an unmolested replacement, or you need to fit reconditioned injectors, check that all ignition components are as new, check that the AFM, TPS and CTS are all in spec. and working as well as their wiring being good, check that the camshaft is good, tappets are all set spot on, cylinder compression ratios are within spec., and all air leaks are eliminated - then you can connect the car to a gas analyser and adjust the AFM.

That's what I was expecting, but the cause may not be the sensor itself. There's a round multi pin plug and socket mounted on the metalwork underneath the inlet manifold, where the injector loom joins the main engine loom, and the signal from the coolant sensors passes through this.8565 wrote: found out that the coolant temp sensor is not working.
Water gets into this connector over time, but as a result of a design fault, has no escape from the rubber boot over the lower half, so the wires under this boot tend to corrode through in time, giving a variety of possible symptoms, including what you are experiencing.
BMW issued a TIS to cut a small notch out of the boot at its lowest point, but it's unusual to find one that's been done.

Will check it on this long holiday. The coolant sensor is not totally not working, the omd is not consten. Too low omd reading from what i get from the E30 Zone wiki. when i join the coolant sensor plud with a wire is all start well idel well. Look like is a must to took out the inlet n check on the wire loom.
Need to say a BIG thks to u Brianmoooore. Wising u a Happy new year.
