Any ideas what this is for?

Having some running issues and the circuit board inside this is damaged so wondering if this is the problem.

The pink wire cuts into the brown temp guage wiring if that's any help...

None yet! Does the wiring look OE? Never seen an OE pink wire in an E30 yet, or any BMW, AFAIK.
Any idea where the rest of the wires go?
What does it plug into?
Any chance of a pic. of the circuit board?

Ill bet its an early "15-20Bhp re-map chip"......

Any maker's name on the box? Could be anything, from an immobiliser to as said above, a 'performance enhacing' gadget...
