Made the poor thing immobile mashed the front panel, knocked the rad etc back into the bay smashed the fan shroud etc

It's stuck in 2nd gear think the box has moved looking at the placement of the stick going through the body of the car what do you reakon to it being fixable?
I'm going to strip the bastid after xmas day and see what I visually need

There's a pin that sits in a bush just behind and below the gearstick (pre-facelift) that can come out if the engine gets thrown forward.
There is NO nucleus.

could be that this has come out then, cheers brian.

Still need to sort out the front of it. gave it a fairly hard whack and a wall vs e30 well so far the wall is still standing so I think it's fair to say I lost :(
Hopefully thats all thats gone there then.

cheers

i think he maybe right, to hit a wall hard enough to do that damage and push the gearstick back in the car you must have bent something badly,or broken the engine mounts.but if the gearbox has went back then that must have pushed the driveshaft and the diff as well , could be fatal im afraid

Doubt if gearbox has been pushed back.
The car sto0pped suddenly, and the engine and box continued forwards. This shouldn't do any internal damage to the box or diff because of the guibo.
It's when you're whacked from behind that the gearbox dies.

Check the engine mounts are still intact.

I cant honestly be arsed to look atm but I will arm myself with the info.
The box appears to have moved forwards as the shifter is stuck between the back of 2nd and the hole in the body and the grommet has dis-appeared down the hole :S

I will look at the mounts i think it's possible the engine has shot forwards thinking about it now... then it will be a new bonnet and panel plus the shroud and probably a fan.

thanks for the help guys.

edit:--

had a quick look, it appears the engine has moved forwards presumably off the mounts. I have only looked at it tried to rock it but there was NO movement so I presume the mounts are fudged. I have compared the engine position to the book of lies and it not in the same place.
So fingers crossed this is the only problem.
