hi guys need some help, my car (318is) seems to rev on its own in the mornings and sometimes once its been running, and then cuts out sometimes.

my oil was low so top it up with some magnatec 15/40.

there is enuff oil in the car now but it still revs up on its own.

any help would be great.

many thanks

No expert mate, but from experience its worth checking ALL the breather hoses around your inlet manifold for splits or cracks and replace as nessarsary.

When i first got my IS it would tick over at times/cut out others.
Found most breathers knackered, replaced them all and it sorted out the problem, massive difference!

Definately worth a try :)

That and check the idle control valve. Wash it out with petrol / carb cleaner and dry it out/air balst it and put it back on!

My dile did this. Rev up a bit, then drop and almost stool constantly, then it would stool! I bought a new ICV off smithy318i whihc did the trick for a while, then it got worse again, so its not always the ICV, although clean it out and se what happens. Put your finger over one end and fully fill it up with carb cleaner.
