Hi Guys,

Ok the thing is bought my car is September 2004 it hasnt been on the road as i have a motability car at the moment goes back to the dealer soon anyways my car has a cheap green cone filter fitted to it but its not up to much ? must have been changed by the last owner so its not got the original air filter fitted to it ? so i am on here looking for advice from some of you that have updated your airfilters to tell me whats the best to buy for a E30 325i Cabrio ? i dont really want or can afford to spend Ԛ£200 ish on a piper cross viper kit ? so anything else a little cheaper that would increase the BHP and the sound of the car for not too much Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ ???

Thanks in advance

Can't tell you what is best for a 325i, but cone filters don't really add much to performance if they are not insulated from the heat of the engine, i.e. have a cover around the filter. This adds to the epxense and hassle of fitting them. I put a K&N panel filter into my 316i recently and noticed smoother accleration and that the engine is a little more responsive. Very slight improvement, but noticeable. I prefer to keep the car as stock as possible, so I chose a replacement panel filter rather than a cone filter. Guess its down to choice, but K&N is a well known brand for for air filters.

I was going to get a pod/cone type filter on my 323i but when it was on the dyno getting the computer tuned the mechanic took off the factory air box completely and my car actually made less power (I have the factory air box minus the AFM and with a Green cotton air filter).

I suppose you wouldn't have the factory air box though if your car came with tha cone filter so putting it back on is probably not an option. You could get it boxed in though like kevin316i said, and make sure it is still gatting air from behind the headlight like the factory air box. I don't really know what to recommend, but K&N is definately popular.

I have a 325i cabrio too, which has a K&N 57i cone on it that is now in need of a clean, but before I bother doing this I am wondering if I am better off putting the original air box back on, as I am not hearing many great things about the K&N setup with respect to intake air temp.

Does anyone know of any high flow replacement panel filters that fit the airbox and if so who stocks them?

Thanks in advance,

Al

BMC carbon Airbox.

I spoke to Ste yesterday who origionally fitted it to Karan's 327i sport and he said it was a fantastic mod.

Seeing as your getting it temporarily for Ԛ£155 + postage (group buy and discounts section) I would snap it up.
