I have a problem with my convertible hood. The motor seems to struggle at the beginning and end of the sequence when the bars are at their most extended. It works if you give it a hand by pushing the roof but on my other car, it worked seemlessly with no help. Any ideas on why this might be the case?
Thanks

Thanks

Also check all the pivot pionts and lubricate, any resistance will lead to the gearbox being overstressed and the casting will crack leading to a real bend up of components.
Its a common weakness in the E30 Cab hood mechanism.
Worth spending a weekend of maintenance on. The motor is Ԛ£900 from BMW and rare on the zone or ebay. A repair kit is available from Germany on ebay.
