Hi all just wondering if anyone knows of any common faults regarding the blower/heater motors, the reason I ask is mine dont work whatsoever, there's also signs of someone tampering with wires behind the blower dial. Had a look over engine bay fuses and these all seem ok. Any ideas?

if it doesn't work at all it could well be seized, remove the motor, apply some lubricating oil. test it across a 12v connection and it should move freely once again.

Cheers for the walk through it really helped
I attacked the blower motor first as I wanted to take it out and clean it anyways, it had started getting a bit sticky so cleaned it up and its nice and free now, next I had a look at resistor and its corroded badly so im guessing its dead lol anybody know where's best to get one from? Or anyone got one handy? Id prefer a brand new component but ive noticed parts for these aren't the easiest to acquire

Can't agree with that. BMW are fantastic at supplying parts for these old turds.e30-pudz wrote:ive noticed parts for these aren't the easiest to acquire
Most parts are still available from the dealers.

Yeah but it's a dedicated drift slag lol haven't got the love or money to pay dealership prices unless it's the only option
Anyways little update motors nice n free n works fine just got a resistor pack from magpie
but still nothing so im now attacking the bodged wire situation the previous owner has left me with, is there any online service manuals with wiring diagrams someone could point me too? Hate wires but hate the cold more so it's gettin done

I've just been on the site for someone else!
