Hi Guys
Thought I would give back a little to the forum that I learn so much from
So after fitting an OBC and putting everything back I noticed that my fuse23 kept blowing, as the dash was apart and there was no Stereo fitted I assumed there was a wire in the harness that had been pinched or frayed while I was busy with the 100 other fixup's I was busy with .
Some tips on Fuse 23 , it supplies the right side of the lighting with power, that is front park lights, rear lights and both Licence plate lights, it also supplies power to the dash and facia lights.
Quite a daunting task to try and figure out whats causing the fuse to blow if you have no idea where to start.
What it does not show is that via the cluster it also supplies power to the globe on the OBC.
First steps first, disconnect all the components , in the rear it's quite easy as all you need do is remove the big white plug from the relay , then test and see if the lights on the dash light up or the fuse blows.
If the fuse does blow not then your fault is between the relay and the rear light cluster/licence plate lights and the relay, start there and work forward. Test for grounds with the light cluster and bulbs removed from the components.
If it still blows then your problem is in the front of the car, the grey/red wire runs in the main harness on the left hand side , if you want to check if the problem is along the segment to the back you will find the wire in the loom in the dash , clip the cable in the glovebox and test again , this will isolate the segment from the front of the car to the rear if you think it's somewhere on that loom.If the fault stops then you have found where the fault is .
The last component to test requires the removal of the radio facia panel and centre console, there are 2 globes on this segment to the ashtrays and there is a splice location just behind the heater panel. If you clip the 4 cables which are joined you will be able to isolate the various globes and dash cluster .
The one lead runs to the switch and there is a tap off for the dash cluster lights behind the cluster , this is a mission to get to so hope your fault is on the othr segments. A quick way to test which one it is , is to provide power to each cable in turn, one of them will short, there are only 4 globes to consider in this layout.
1. Ashtray Front and rear
2. 2 globes on the heater panel
3. Dash Globes in the cluster.
Each one should light up when provided power , if one shorts or sparks the problem is on that segment.
If all of them light up as they should and you still have the fuse blowing then the last 3 options availible are .
1. Hazard switch segment - Again gray/Red wire on the plug, with the plug disconnected you are isolating this.
2. Radio dimmer switch - Grey/red wire on the harness to the headunit (most common Fault, maybe I should have stated that first)
3. Cable feed or globe in OBC
Hope this helps

All good stuff and correct, but there's an easier way to check whether it's the parking lights part of the circuit or the rest that's causing the problem - use the indicator switch to turn just the parking lights on.
