If there is any trace of ABS and it doesnt work then it will fail an MOT.

Why do you think the ABS wouldnt work with the E36 stuff?

Surely its a case of splicing the E36 sensors into the E30 ABS wiring? (Leaving the 3rd wire from the E36 sensor unconnected).

The brakes will work, but as Barry said, you'll need to remove the pump to get an MOT. If it's there and not working, it won't pass.

You'll also need to make sure the ABS light doesn't come on at all in order to get an MoT.

Yes I'm aware of the wiring differences but there are ways to make the ABS work.

in that case, i'll leave the pump in place and drive the car for now and possibly re-fit the abs at a later date
