Two quick questions I'm hoping someone could clear up for me..

On both rear arches of my e30 from the middle all the way down to the rear quarter.. the inner lips seem to have been folded round.. and in the winter months it seemed to build up an awful ammount of shite off the roads..

just wondered if it was a factory thing or if a donut before me has done the diy anti wheel rub trick..

Then the second question.. just out of curiosity really :)

When I was poking around the drivers side rear arch and cleaning up I came across this weird reservoir type bottle above the filler neck?

Just wondered what it does? going to temporarily remove it to clean up 24 years of shite thats built up behind it and wanted to know im not going to mess anything up by doing so...

Cheers all

I can't help on the arch question mate but the little tank is something to do with he fuel tank. Like an expansion tank of some kind if I'm right.

I'm pretty sure the rear arches should have the lip at ninety degrees to the panel, I.e , not bent up

The tank is a vent and expansion tank for the fuel tank, you can easily remove it to clean and rust proof behind, it has 3 hoses with the really crappy clips on them so I would get some small jubilee clips and label up which hose goes where before you start.

Worth checking around that little bracket for the fuel filler pipe for rust and also where the hoses route into the car, known rust areas on these cars.

Doesn't look too bad at all from those pics though, nice work!

Wheel arch profile is normal for post facelift cars.
Fuel vent tank needs to be removed and the metal around its lower fixing bracket checked carefully for rust holes. This, and the bracket for the fuel filler pipe/wheel arch liner, are prime rust spots, since underseal wasn't applied around them at the factory.
