Hi can anyone tell me what oil is ok for a gearbox oil change

Note that ATF Dextron can be used in manual boxes as well as autos. It is commonly used to improve the gearchange, when cold, on boxes that are a little worn in the selector department, at the expense of making the box more noisy and rattly at idle.
If the oil you drain out appears to be rather thinner than expected and red in colour, then this mod. has probably been done, and you will find that gears are difficult to select if you fill with the 'correct' oil.
