Hi all - a request for help please.
I am trying to retrofit a 13 button OBC to replace the analogue clock. I have read various DIYs including the one on this site (thanks) but still have a couple of questions.
I have the full loom (x2)obc, sensor, chime and control module.
The loom that goes outside the bulkhead has a blue connector for the horn, a circular black connector for the temp sensor but it also has another black connector the same shape as the blue one which i dont know where it goes.
When that loom is inside the car it splits into 4 with 5 connections.
1. Is to a green plug so goes into the control module.
2. Is a single plug with 2x red/white wires which i assume plugs into C302 accessory block.
3. Is a black 2 pin plug which i dont think is used
4. Splits into 2 clear 2 pin connectors, one with green/ greenred wires, the other is blue/brown. It seems the blue / brown connects to the internal loom ? Dont know where the other goes.
The internal loom has the green obc, yellow, dash, black chime, blue indicator connectors all ok. However there are another 3 green ones - one plugs to the control module but do the other 2 plug together?
Also if the control module is under the glovebox there isnt enough length to put the chime under the dash.

Any help really appreciated
Thanks.

Quick answer, as have to go!
Spare socket on the under bonnet loom connects to the spare one near the glovebox area. One of them has an earth and a wire that connects to the other socket. Other pin in that socket is 12 volts power. No idea what they're for - never seen them used.
Blue and brown are external temp. sensor.
Green and green/red goes to immobiliser socket (a plain green wire to each pin) above the top of the glovebox area. If the car is unmolested and doesn't have an immobiliser fitted as BMW intended, this socket will have a plug fitted to it that has a single loop of green wire between its pins.
"Control module" (it's not) goes above the engine ECU mounting plate.

Hi Brian does the under bonnet loom and in car loom connect via a green connector and a white one? The white is the temp sensor, so the green is the only other one that fits. Theres also a loose black connector that seems to go in the pax footwell somewhere ?
Thanks again

From my notes for post facelift: Under bonnet loom connects to interior loom by two plugs and sockets. One four pin green, and one two pin white.
Under bonnet loom has three other plugs inside cabin - white 2 pin with green and green/red wires to immobiliser socket, white single pin with two red/white wires to accessories socket, and black 2 pin with red/white and brown/green wires unused. This connects to another 2 pin black socket under bonnet with brown and brown/green wires.

2 X 4 pin green plugs to relay box, black 3 pin plug to chime, yellow multi pin plug to instrument cluster, black single pin plug to column switch, green multi pin plug to OBC. Lead to OBC has unused yellow wire with white single pin plug.

Hello again
Right, fitted loom and connected OBC but...
I checked before fitting loom that the obc powered up which it did with ---UHR
So went ahead stripped out the dash etc and fitted loom. (Just the interior) Connected up the OBC and was removing the clock when I noticed the OBC gently smoking! Quickly disconnected and checked everything which was good so reconnected to see what would happen . Sltill slight smoke but no smell and the unit seemed to operate correctly so I wasnt sure if it was just dust burning off having not been powered for a while. Also had light bar bulbs replaced so possible flux burn off. Unit didnt feel hot or warm even. I then noticed that 1000/1 gave a reading of 5l and checked the fuel gauge which was reading empty! Disconnected computer and the fuel gauge popped back to full. Connected obc and it dropped back to empty.
Any ideas or is the obc knackered.
Also does it need to plugged into something else to get the code function to work?
Thanks Al

Right, went back and tried again this time with no smoke and it all seemed to behave correctly!however the speed limit function doesnt work ( it wont chime when limit exceeded)
Also does anyone know where the white 2 pin connector with green / green red wires connects to? I have the under glovebox area stripped away and cant find anything that looks like the female counterpart.
Thanks
Al

Green, green/red plug connects to a matching one hanging from the loom above the glovebox area. It won't be empty.
Does the chime work for any of its other functions?

Thanks Brian
I'll have another look & yes the chime works for the low temp. However the code function doesnt appear to work either but I'm guessing it needs the plug I can find connected to allow that?
As an aside the OBC i'm fitting came off an87 325 and has a 3.5 code plug - will this matter?
Thanks Al
