After a delightful 3h RAC assisted trip home last night, my beloved 320i has a dead fuel pump.
I'm looking at replacing it with either a spare one (which is an unknown) or a new pump..
I remember in the mists of time Fuzzy (with the YB engined touring) ran his with a Walbro Escort Cosworth pump. This was cheaper than a new e30 original pump, and had better reliability and flow.
I've found the thread where it was discussed, but I'm struggling to work out what pump I need.
also, can you replace the pump in the housing?
thanks

Dont bother, the pickup will give you fuel starvation on hard right handers at anything between 1/4 and 1/2 tank of fuel. Fit a working second hand one with the correct pickup

this one that failed was 2nd hand and fitted to replace the original- lasted 2.5 years, and car was off road for 2 years of that..DanThe wrote:Dont bother, the pickup will give you fuel starvation on hard right handers at anything between 1/4 and 1/2 tank of fuel. can the original pickup not be fitted, or the pump lowered (as per the link above)?

You wont fit the pickup to an aftermarket pump, totally different fittings
