Evening to all ,
majorly frustrating problem ...
on my way to work the other morning i pulled over to let a friend out the car and the car died all of a sudden like it had stalled ,failing attempts turning it over and jumping it didnt work .
iv now got it home but i have no fuel at the fuel rail and no spark at the plugs ,iv looked and changed the crank sensor with no further luck
now it dose have what i believe to be a factory fit alarm/immobilizer it is in the off position and has been since i brought it
like i said iv checked for spark and fuel so dose any one have any ideas ????
this is completely out of the blue
The alarm horn has a lock where by the key switches on or off the alarm and its in the off position
its a 2.8 m20 (conversion i did around 10k ago and hasnt missed a beat )

First test is to connect a 12 volt bulb between the + terminal of the ignition coil and earth, and see if it lights with the ignition on.

Do not start randomly testing/changing parts. That is the route to starting with one fault and ending up with ten.
Check for power on the coil +, as above.

Does the fuel pump run when you crank the engine?
Test the CPS by unplugging it under the diagnostic socket, and measure the resistance between the two terminals of the plug nearest where the cable exits.
Should be about 540 ohms, and remain stable when the wire to the sensor is moved anywhere along its length. Note that an incorrect reading confirms a faulty CPS, but a correct reading does not confirm its good, and that wriggling the wire to the sensor may turn a working sensor into a faulty one if the cable is already damaged.

there is no fuel pump or spark when i crank the engine ,the cps socket has 3 pins located inside the connector and iv tryed others with no luck on different combinations i get a flicker of a reading but nothing that relates to 540 ohms

i can only think it is the cps then ?

If you're sure there's no reading that is approximately correct across the CPS plug, then it's faulty.
