The tps is faulty on my '89 325i auto. I picked up a used tps but the part number is different. My old tps ends 321, the replacement ends 301. Is there a difference between them and can they be interchanged?
Would a faulty tps cause a misfire under full throttle acceleration between 3.5k and 4k? It pulls ok either side of this rev range.
Tps Interchangeable?

the TPS is really only used at two points, Idle and WO (Wide Open).
It just tells the ECU what you are doing with your right foot, it would not be the direct cause of a missfire, but if you have your foot planted to the floor (TWO) and the ECU does not see it, then it may cause a problem.

I wasn't very specific. It is the WOT function that is not working on the TPS.

yer those part number are the same thing, there are about 6 part numbers for the TPS, its only a simple 3 way switch the ones you have should be fine.

Cool, thanks. I'll bosh it on at the weekend and see if it cures my misfire. The TPS is faulty anyway (no continuity at WOT), so even if it's not the cause of my problem it needs replacing anyway.

can't do any harm, I just bought one from cotsworld BMW on here and it wasn't as expensive as I thought it might be
it sorted my high idle problem so well worth the ££
