odd plug with ecu harness plug

going through connecting up the wiring for the m20 conversion,i've plugged in the ecu theres another plug with 3 wires to it,i've also got the car end but plugs are slighty different.

can someone tell me what the plug is for please

If the plugs are different then they don't connect. However, there can be wiring issues if your vehicle and engine are before and after 1987.

However, the "normal" extra plug for the ECU is to connect up the aircon, so that it can boost the idle speed when activated.

these are the plugs in question the black plug is joined in with ecu loom,white plug is slightly different which i believe was connected to a similar plug with the old m40,both engine loom and oringal loom are from late cars

if it helps the white plug runs behind speaker then runs under drivers seat

if someone could help as unsure whether this will stop the car from starting when finished
