Hi Guys,
Went to see a 318 E30, cab, black, red leather ”“ which is a hard combo to find and one i want.
It has full service, stamped history and seems like its mechanically sound with 137k miles, but has a few body work conditions:
1) roof motor not working, needs to be manually pulled down, not a major issue.
2) slight touch of rust near the door, only visible when opening the door (inside). Is it quite easy to remove and stop the rust expanding?
3) M-tech kit wasnt put on too well, has slight gaps at the end where it should be complete flush, he said he was told by E30 fanatic that he could tell it was off a coupe and the edges/ends needed to be cut and shaped off to fit a cabby - is this correct and can it be done?
Would really appreciate anyone's input ”“ also, if anyone can work on it, id love to hear from you. I'll get pics
Thanks
Bini

- Location: Fife - You got a problem with that ?
Roof's are never cheap or easy to fix in my experience. The rust you mention isn't too hard to deal with.
If the side skirts are not for a cabby, they'll never fit properly. You can find Tech 2 cabby kits on here and ebay - they will fit properly. Don't bother chopping into it - sell what you have and get the right set for your car.

The roof sounds like it needs recalibrating so the button works then you can see if you nee any parts replacing.
There's a how to in the wiki I believe.
