My sunroof got stuck in the tilt position today and I had to manually lower it. Now whenever I press up or down I just get a clicking noise does the motor need cleaning?

Thanks.

Motor doesn't need cleaning, but you need to find out why your roof jammed. Clicking is probably the drivesprocket junping teeth on the guide cables - something it won't do many times without damage.
Loosen the motor drive by unscrewing the big hex nut, then use the hex key to wind the roof slightly back.
Pull down and slide back the roof lining, then move the roof to the tilt position and unscrew the six torx screws that hold the roof panel on.
Unscrew the four bolts that hold the roof motor in place.
You should now be able to work out what's jamming the cables etc., and be able to lubricate them.
If you remove any more of the roof slide mechanism, beware of the extremely sharp edges of the stainless steel bits.
To reassemble, put both the roof guides to the fully closed position, tighten the big hex nut, work the motor switch so that the motor is in the fully closed position and bolt the motor up again.
Use the motor to put the roof in tilt and screw the roof panel on again.
Use the motor to partly retract the roof, and pull over and reclip the lower fabric panel again.

Thanks Brian. Those e30 manuals have nothing on you. :thumb:
