Changes from early e30 gearshift

Does anyone know if the gearshift linkage sytem and bushes in the early (1984) e30 323i are different to those used in later e30s. My parts supplier seems to think so.

yes they are different,

early type,



Later type,



the basic moving parts are the same on both, the main upgrade/change was the replacement of the large plate to a connecting rod,

Can the large plate be removed to get easier access to the bushes? In the later ones you need to reach behind the propshaft to get at the linkage?
