The oil light has started flickering at idle. It has just started to stay on . As soon asrvs go up even as small amount as 100 revs it goes out. There is oil coming out of the protective plastic on the oil pressure switch wire. I've not checked the oil press switch . Ill do that later when car cools down. I spose its worth swapping anyway. Anything else it could be apart from pump? It has perfect amount of oil in too. And oil was changed 4 weeks ago

Could just be a dodgy sensor - worth getting it checked out with a proper gauge.

It's a duff oil pump, a duff engine, or a duff pressure switch. Out of the three, and since you have already said it already has a fault, I'd be replacing the third one!

Could be a gunged up oil pressure relief valve...

As the switch is leaking, I'd be changing the switch before worrying about anything else just yet.
cheers,

Strange thing about oil,it gets thinner as it warms up...

The switch is the cheapest of all 3. I would go ahead and change that, keep in mind its the biggest pain in the world to get that thing off because it is in such an odd angle.

Rob, hope i'm not stating the obvious but when you change the switch it's worth checking it has a good connection to the block for the earth path. iirc the switch closes making the circuit and the lamp to come on at about 0.2 PSI which is basically nothing so if your engine is running ok then it's very very very likely to be the switch gone duff or the wire earthing out making the light flicker.
I changed my switch and the new one I got from GSF made no difference, it turned out it was actually a sender rather than a switch. Easy test is to ensure continuity from the casing to the connection pin before you fit it.
TPS has a oil pressure test kit if you wanted to test your pump pressure whilst the switch is out for peace of mind.
