Anyone know the difference in a 2 door and 4 door wiring loom both 316 carb models.

Which loom? Engine? body? One of the sub looms?
Also, what age of cars? There were substantial changes in the 316's production run.

One car 83 two door one 86 4 door both carb models. Also had a 316i that I broke but not sure what year it was. Had a good look through the technical section and theres some good info. I always knew that the engine loom would be similar if not the same on the two carb models and as far as I can now see it will connect at the bulkhead. The I model engine loom would i'm sure be different due to the ignition system etc. The real question is the remaining loom inside the car. Looks like it is fairly std and has plugs left for any options, sunroof, locking etc. Hope this is the case as I have not decided exactly what options I will use on my build.

Central locking/window loom is separate from the main body loom, but there's no reason why you can't use a four door one on a two door.
Body looms should be close enough to identical.
There was a change from a rectangular engine loom socket to the more common 20 pin round one at some point, but I expect yours are both the old type. The 316i loom will have the round one.
