You've got multiple threads about this, and you've PM'd me, so lets put all this in one place.
Your car started life as a 1989 318i auto (not an SE, there's no such thing as a 4-pot SE). You've put in an engine from a 1986 325i Manual. I presume the rev counter stopped working AFTER the swap, although you haven't told us that.
When you swapped the engine, you swapped the engine loom, which means disconnecting things at the C101 plug. Now your new engine loom does not have a black wire at pin 6. Cars after 1987 should, and this runs to the ECU, but because your engine and its loom are older than this, you do not have that wire.
Find your ECU, and look at the big plug it connects to. Coming off that plug should be a smaller plug with three pins. Pin 1 should have a blue/black wire - you need to connect this wire to Pin 6 of the C101.

If you had mentioned in your other thread, on exactly the same subject, that the rev. counter had NEVER worked with this installation, then I might just have come up with the same solution! In the absence of information to the contrary, I tend to assume that things not working have recently stopped working on its own, not failed to work after major alterations.
