Just bought my first e30, an 87 325i sport tech 1 :D its awesome! haha but just 1 slight problem with her.

it idles at about 1200 rpm, and it does also appear to be running a little rich. ive already changed the throttle position swith, as this was faulty, and ive checked the blue temp sensor and the resistances of the coils in the idle control valve. i seem to be getting the wrong voltages at the outer pins to the ICV. where are these fed from? is there a seperate idle control module on the motronic 1.0 system?

i am also intrguiged as to how the cold start system works. is there a serperate injector or similar or does it work off the 6 ordinary injectors?

finally i would like to check the position of the idle screw on the throttle body as i know they are set from the factory, and i fear it may have been moved. how do i know where this would have been set originally? thanks, any help welcome! haha

If you bought it with a duff TPS, then the chances are that the previous owner might well have played with adjustments that should be left alone, such as the throttle stop. Examine the screw carefully for marks on the screw slot and any other signs of disturbance, but don't be tempted to move it if you're certain it's undisturbed. The wiki method is only an approximate way of resetting one that's been disturbed - it needs a special tool to do the job accurately.
