Changing my engine mounts today,
Am I missing something, mine are no where near lining up!!
Bmw e30 2.5 86'
Anyone else have the problem the engine not being able to move over far enough?

I did mine one at a time was well easy just lifted engine with a jack and a block of wood, have you got the stud in the wrong hole maybe where the mount goes it to the subframe there is 2 holes one for the bolt part of the mount and one for the little stub bit maybe

Also check your gearbox mounts while you are there. It's been a while since I changed mine but I don't recall having any problems, it's fairly straight forward. I think there's a hole for a locating dowel and one for the bolt make sure they're the right way round and it should go back together easily.

The only thing that locates the engine in a fore/aft direction is the engine mounts. The propshaft is adjustable for length (back section) and the gearbox mounts are slotted in the body.
Were the original front mounts sheared or badly distorted? If so, has any work been done in the propshaft/gearbox mount area in recent times?

Right, it's now TUESDAY (Monday i lost the plot and went home in a strop!)
the engine mounts i had ordered from ebay, were of course the wrong ones which didn't help at all.
Went to GSF and got the right ones for a cheaper price! (however that works!)
The problem was that the engine was pretty much on its side, it took 3 of us but we got it level again and the mounts went on pretty easy, so yeah, we had to turn the engine clockwise abit and move it over to the drivers side!
The old mounts were.. well.. fucked both were pretty much the same:
