Hi All,
The Horseshoe on my cab isnt closing fully. I think the roof is folding flat but on inspection, Ive noticed that the cables appear stretched.
Has anyone ever changed these cables before?
have a look at the pic.. Apologies for pic quality..

I had a similar problem with mine and I was able to correct it by adjusting the plate that holds the microswitches on the horseshoe motor in the boot. The problem was actually that the motor was being switched off before the horseshoe was fully pulled down, so I just adjusted this plate to make the motor stay on that little bit longer.

Back behind an M20, but now I can hear it better.

Thanks Pete, I thought the cable on the right in the pic looked loose. Any pics I've seen seem to show cables that are tighter.

Mine look just as loose as those to be honest. I looked into getting replacement cables, but they're like £30 or £40 a pair if I remember, maybe even more. Best to try a little tinkering first in case you can save yourself a few bob.

Now that cab weather has come along, my lid is still rattling when I've the roof lowered.
I checked the lid (horseshoe) and it looks like it could be better locked by the 2 claws on either side..

The two "claws" on either side can be adjusted to pull down further by altering the length of the closing bar, which is on the right hand side, attached to the main roof motor. I can't remember if its the top or bottom bar, though.

Hi Mac. I don't know whether the E30 centre in Darlaston is still open, there was a rumour the guys were thinking of closing. Your journey could have been costly and a waste of time.
Try calling them: 07968 852395 (bill).

Hi Gert, I had heard that too but I heard last year that they were still open..
I had the car with them in 2008 and they seemed like sound lads who knew their stuff..

Have you tried the numer, Mac? I've had roof problems myself, but if you work through them in a logical way, then you can get them to work, and they aren't too difficult to sort out (I'm usless at electrics, so if it's electrical then I'm stuffed).
I'd be interested to know if they are still going, as they would be the ones I would use as a fall back solution.

Just called Bill and had a quick chat with him. They're still in the same place and he says he has no intention of going anywhere else.
Its good to know that they're still going. Like you said Gert, as a fall back.
I've had a look at some threads here and I might just make sure my roof is folding right and see if there's any improvement with the lid.
I'll check the closing bar and if all else fails, I'll make my way to Walsall. I could throw a small fortune at it here and get nowhere, maybe its better to bite the bullet and let the experts have a look.

Have a go yourself first Mac.
Thanks for confirming the guys are still running. Good news.

Hi guys,
Has anyone had any dealings with Bill and Jason in the E30 center of late? I've tried both numbers but no answer.

I heard several years ago that they were closing shop. I don't know whether this has happened, but if they aren't responding they may have shut down.
