My car sounds like an airplane when I'm turning right. I jacked up the car, spinned the left wheel and felt some vibrations in the spring, so I guess my left wheel bearing has to be changed.
I don't think my brakes are original, I think they've been replaced with 525 disks. I'm not sure though, but this shouldn't affect the the type of wheel bearing I have to buy, does it?
Can anyone recommend a place where I can buy a good and cheap front wheel bearing for my car? When replacing the wheel bearing, should I lubricate it with grease?

Front wheel bearings come as a complete hub unit,I buy mine from my local GSF.
I would be suprised if you have disc's from a 525,as I think that they have 5 wheel bolts.

they should be well greased from the box but its worth checking them, moly/cv grease is what you would need
check the front top mount from through the bonnet when these go you'l get noise, but from what you say its more than likely the bearing.
phone up your local gsf and ecp and ask them to see what makes of bearing they have two good makes are SKF and FAG

About the brakes, I think they're from a 520.

How many wheel bolts do your wheels use?
If its 4, it'll be a standard e30 bearing.
I doubt the disks are from a five series unless they've been redrilled or its running some strange setup.

ECP sell front bearing kits, which come with a hub and the bearing already installed in it.
Get the one made by SNR, as they also sell one made by Orbis, which sounds like piece of sh1t based on the reviews I've read

Eurocarparts, but they have a sister company, Carparts4less, which is usually cheaper, depending on what fake sales ECP have going at the time.

Unbelievable, first time I hear about it...Brianmoooore wrote:Eurocarparts, but they have a sister company, Carparts4less, which is usually cheaper, depending on what fake sales ECP have going at the time.
Dodgy thing is, the prices displayed on CarParts4Less match the DISCOUNTED parts on ECP, meaning normally ECP charge 20-30% more for the same parts?
A simple example - I'm currently looking at a Sachs clutch kit, which is £121.20 on ECP with a 25% discount (due to bank holiday weekend), but normally it's £160.80....
Checked a few more parts and it's exactly the same story. Keep in mind, the parts are exactly the same on both sites.
What's the catch?

No catch whatsoever. Parts from CP4L come off the same shelves as those from ECP, are packed by the same people, and usually turn up in boxes taped up with ECP parcel tape.
Note that there are fixed extra discounts for orders of £50+, £75+ and £100+, so try to break up any big order into more than one order with totals as close to just over these amounts as possible.
Another thing to try, if you are spending less than £50, is to sign up to an account, make up a false order, place it in your 'basket' and then leave it at the 'checkout' overnight without paying.
The next day you will get an email giving you a discount code for 7.5% off on your next order. You then apply this discount to what you actually wanted to order in the first place.

Nice tip Brian
Also I realized that CP4L don't have any branches, so it's all online. I guess that's one of the main reasons for cheaper prices (or should I say non-inflated prices compared to ECP lol)

Plus CP4L is run by a bunch of about 4 retarded monkeys judging by my phone calls to them, but the low prices are worth the hassle if you get the wrong bit.

If you want to pay by credit/debit card CP4L will only deliver to the cardholders address - so if you need delivery to work forget it.
I understand you can get round this by paying by Paypal but I have yet to try it for myself.
ECP will deliver anywhere.

This is the cheapest alternative I've found so far: http://biltema.se/sv/Bil---MC/Bilreserv ... BMW-74118/

Not being funny, but it's a bit pointless asking where you can get bearings on a UK forum, when you live in Sweden.
Ask the mechanics/garages around your town and see where they get quality parts.
P.S. If you order the SNR front bearing kit from CarParts4Less.co.uk and get it delivered to Sweden, it will cost you roughly £80, which is around 95 EUR according to Google.
Not a bad deal, considering you get a decent part, if there aren't any available in your country.

I think they're taking an extreme over price for the products.zd3bx wrote:Not being funny, but it's a bit pointless asking where you can get bearings on a UK forum, when you live in Sweden.

A brand new FAG bearing is about 70 pounds over here, so it's not really worth trying to save 10 euros or so on a no-name brand.

I will order from CP4L but I have problems getting in touch with them. They don't answer on email nor in their live chat. Is this bad service a common problem with the company?

Email is always slow on the reply and the chat never seems to work, but you can usually get through on the phone no problem.
Used them many times and not had an issue yet.

Do you get the gaskets when buying oil filters from CP4L?

Gaskets? As far as I am aware there isn't one, just the rubber ring on the filter itself.

This is a very good answer, but in your post before this you mentioned "fake sales". What do you mean with that?Brianmoooore wrote:No catch whatsoever.
