My power steering pump appears to be leaking (318is) and rather than rebuild or replace I'm tempted to junk the lot and fit a manual rack.

Has anyone got one fitted? Is it much heavier steering? Worth doing or easier to rebuild the pump, new seals etc?

I would swap the pump, should be able to get a decent one for a tenner I would think

I don't have PS and its quite heavy when parking, I would keep it if I were you

Try a replacement pump.

Manual racks were OK in 1985 before people knew any different.

A secondhand PAS pump wont be much and fairly easy to swap.
