going to tackle the cambelt on the Touring on Monday

Ive got a new belt and the tensioner

And i bought a spring load meter thingy like in the guide, when i bought it i made sure it was good enough for the correct tension. However someone has since removed the figure with (look in the haynes manual) out of the wiki

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... elt_Change

So i need to know what tension i need on the meter thingy to have the tensioner adjusted correctly

Hope that makes sence :?

i dont have a haynes manual

Ive changed 2 m20 belts before and ive never bothered with timing tools just make sure nothing moves and the belt it lined up correctly in the teeth. I assume this method is fine with an m40

Never used a locking tool, and never had anything move yet either. Note that the M40 is different than the M20, in that the cam pulley is not keyed in place and can be 'fine tuned' to get the timing spot on, although if it hasn't been moved from the factory, I can't see it being far out now.
Belt tension is 2kg at 85mm (or 1kg at 170mm if you have a particularly long allen key.)
