Wiki article doesn't make it clear, but if the tacho. and temp. gauge both start acting up at the same time, the most likely cause is SI board NiCd batteries, which have gone short circuit.
If the car has been left without a battery connected, or a flat battery for the time it's been laid up, then it's even more likely. The batteries may come back to life after a while, but they are faulty, and should be changed anyway.

Would this also be the case for speedo and mpg gauge?

Speedo isn't usually affected by the batteries. Speedo has it's own circuit board and electronics, well away from the rest of it.

what could be wrong if, speedo and fuel level gauge stops working, but after restarting car it works again and than in a minute stops again. Then restarted the car and worked fine?
cheers

Sounds like some kind of problem with the power feeds from fuse 12 or 10. Any intermittent problems with the radio or reversing lights?
Try thumping the top of the dash to see if that affects the problem.

thanks - will try. Well anyway a have to install fresh dash, so will take everything apart-change those batts behind clocks.

will check what's with the fuses.
week ago battery was completely flat for no reasons at all. Was standing for some 10 days - battery drained flat... Some electric problems. What's about OBC - could it be somehow related? where does it take power from?

OBC takes its power and most of its signals directly from the instrument cluster.
Is it acting up as well?

yep. Range doesn't work at all, mystical mileage, and it loses memory
I see, so it's the Nicd, Lion batteries behind the clocks are the ones to blame.

Batteries on the SI board won't affect the OBC.
OBC memory loss also suggests a problem with the supplies from the fuses I've mentioned, and possibly fuse 21 as well.
