Hi, I am new on here, I have just bought my second e30 which is a 1988 2 door 325i manual with air con, The radiator is leaking and i bought a second hand one to replace but this one does not have a hole in the side for the sensor that mine has. It has a mark for a hole. Can a hole be used or can i fit it with out this sensor? Thanks for any help......

The sensor is for the additional cooloing fan fitted in front of the rad. It could be used without the sensor, but without the additional fan running with the A/C, it would cause the engine temp to rise above normal, I thonk some people would fit some kind of manual switch to the front fan.

Never mind the engine temp. It will cause the A/C system to run very hot (if you use it) which increases the system pressure to the point where things start to fail.

I'd get the correct radiator.

New replacement rads (for E30s without aircon) tend to have this boss fitted, and blanked with a brass plug.
