Looking at putting a 16 valve motor into my M40 engined 318i. Also looking at chipping it. Is it possible in this case to use the m40 loom and ECU or am I going to have to source these items as well?

The M42 ECU is unique to the M42, you can't use the M40 one.

i have the m42 loom,ecu and coil packs here that you will need .
