Hi, new to this E30 jargon.
Recently bought my first E30 and a couple of days in I noticed the o/s headlight bulb was out so thought I would change it (it did work prior to noticing it had blown) anyway, changed the H1 bulb and now the damn thing won't work at all! The sidelights work fine, has to the high beam on both sides but only the low beam works on the n/s now ant not the side I've changed. The bulb is fine as I've checked it works by putting it in the other side and seeing it illuminate. There doesn't seem to be any fuses blown and the wiring all looks ok. So just wondering of anyone could suggest anything? I was thinking a relay maybe? But not sure about how these work so pretty much stumped.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated people! Thanks :)

1) Fuses might not "look" blown but it's still worth swapping them anyway
2) Relays are just switches; you turn on the relay, and the relay turns on something else.
3) Each headlight has its own fuse, but shares a relay. Try swapping them over and seeing if it makes the light on the other side working.
4) All relays and fuses can be found in the Wiki:

5) NEVER put in a higher-rated fuse to try and fix the issue. Fire is not fun.

^^ this

I was pulling my hair out when i couldn't get my n/s hid to work. swapped ballasts n bulbs.

Checked fuses 1 & 2 and they were fine

I gave up and was about to email the seller about the faulty kit

Done another google search and it turned out 1 & 2 were for the high beam, so went back out and checked fuses 13 & 14

Lord behold, the fuse was blown. At first i thought it wasn't but there was a very small break

Replaced, and jobs a good'un

Cheers guys. Turns out after changing the bulb, the relay, checking all the wiring & replacing all the fuses it was a fuse ! One I had changed must of been a dud! Oh well, works now that's all that matters :)

Always swap a suspect fuse with another one of the same rating in the fusebox. If what didn't work, now works, and what you swapped the fuse with doesn't, then the original fuse was blown, although the new one is holding (for now). If what didn't work, still doesn't work, along with what you took the fuse from, the chances are that a fault has blown the new fuse as well as the original. If, after swapping fuses, what didn't work still doesn't work, but what you took the fuse from still works, then the fuse from the faulty circuit is not blown, and the problem is elsewhere.
