steering lock on??

someone please tell me im an idiot!!

i took my steering wheel off and i took the key out and whilst putting the wheel back on the steering lock came on and now i can for the life of me get it back off i cant turn the key ive tryed putting the wheel on abit and wiggling it whilst turning the key, but nothing happens

can anyone help!

have you tried putting the key in, wiggling it whilst wiggling the lock part on the column?

I can stick the steering wheel on so far I can still turn the wheels so I do that and wiggle the key but still no luck!!
I managed to snap the window wiper stalk off aswell there isn't anything really easy I'm missing is there?

Isn't there some sort of latch thing that gets pushed in when the steering column moves to unlock the steering lock...I can't remember!!! The latch is the lock...this is like a flippin riddle, just a thought...
