Right, so im looking to give my 318i a service with the help of the trustee haynes manual and my dad, but i just had a few questions and a bit of advice i was hoping i might be able to get some help with.
Are laser/performance sparkplugs actually any better? Do they do anything or make any difference or are they just a gimmick? For £20 a pop compared to around £4each are they worth it?
Was thinking about putting an imduction kit/filter on, but after reading a couple of threads on here people were saying your better off with a decent panel filter. Is that right? Any recommendations on a decent one?k and n?
Probarbly a really stupid question that i could find out if i looked but im lazy. When replacin the oil how many litres does it take in a 318i m40?
And lastly is it worth replaicing the ht leads, rotor arm and distributor cap? How do i know if there worth doing? Will it make it run better or make any improvements?
Thanks for any help and advice. Rich
Servicing questions?

Stick with the normal NGK BKR6EQUP spark plugs.
for the air filter, just a standard K&N Panekl filter.
oil is 4.5Ltrs i think.
i would do the Rotor arm and dizzy cap, do the leads if they look tired....

Total waste of money. Don't know if what you're referring to are four electrode plugs, but if they are, they'll probably make it run worse.
Standard OE paper filter every time. Exactly the same performance as a K&N, but actually filters the air.Was thinking about putting an imduction kit/filter on, but after reading a couple of threads on here people were saying your better off with a decent panel filter. 4 litres, assuming you're changing the filter as well.Probarbly a really stupid question that i could find out if i looked but im lazy. When replacin the oil how many litres does it take in a 318i m40?
Rotor arm and distributor cap are long term service items, and need replacement if they're excessively pitted, the carbon brush is worn below limits, showing signs of tracking, or even cracked. Leads will very rarely need renewing. Usually only if they've been damaged by bad handling or been burnt against the manifold. And lastly is it worth replaicing the ht leads, rotor arm and distributor cap? How do i know if there worth doing? Will it make it run better or make any improvements?
Thanks for any help and advice. Rich
