Castrol syntrax. 1.7L
When doing the job, undo the filling hole first. You could imagine the problem undoing the drain hole then not being able to undo the fill plug.

Use nothing but Castrol SAF-XJ as recommended by BMW. Your local BMW dealer may sell you a couple of litres.
