Does the section in this sticky: http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=153524
under "Adjusting the base idle speed and mixture" apply to Motronic 1.3 as well as 1.0?

My 1.3 325i does this: "rev it up to about 3000rpm and quickly close the throttle. If the RPMs drop briefly under the set idle RPM and then come back up" and I will follow the procedure in the sticky if someone can confirm that it is the same.

Thanks
Ben

If the rpm is 3000 and you close the throttle then the injectors are closed until the cps sees 1100 ish rpm, dme is already holding the icv in a nominal position and just turns the injectors back on then controls the icv to attain 750ish rpm.

Motronic 1.3 has no manual adjustment of any kind. Throttle stop screw is just to stop throttle plate binding and tps is just a switch telling the DME which of the 3 maps to use (idle, normal or wide open) AFM CO pot is only for idle co adjustment.

What steps have you taken so far? Have you cleaned the ICV?

I think I may have sorted this.

I turned the idle screw in about a third of a turn. The idle didn't change but the drop in idle on closing the throttle has gone.

I guess maybe someone had turned the idle down too much and the throttle was closing completely causing the revs to drop before the ICV caught it.

Seems better now and idle is still at 800 rpm.

Thanks for your help.

Hmm, interesting, normally as you may know, that screw doesn't need to be touched...you may have hidden a different problem...

Can you still hear the Throttle position switch click as the throttle moves off idle? It could be that you have gone past the click and the ECU doesn't think that you are idling when you are...either way if you're happy, just remember what you did in case something else comes up...
