Wiper linkage pivot ball

Every time I turn the on the wipers the linkage pops off that pivot ball on the wiper motor and it won't stay on?was thinking of drilling a hole through it and inserting a nut and bolt to stop it popping off??is this a common problem and is there any other ways to fix it?

Not a common problem, but not unheard of.
Check that the wipers move easily enough and aren't seized, and if all is OK there, simply go to a BMW dealer, or ask Cotswold BMW on here, for part #61 61 1 370 829, which should be about £10 or so + VAT.
