On a m20 OEM set of leads, where the HT lead goes into the rubber socket at the plug end, there is a metal socket that the lead attaches to.On my no.4 cylinder the lead fell out and a load of green crap came out.My question is,should there be a threaded pin on the of the metal socket to hold the lead in,if so mine has corroded away.I hope I'm making some sort sense.Part number-5

End of the wire should be a short tube with a spring wire across it that slides over the threads of the plug. Pushes straight on rather than screws.
If you have green gunge in there something unusual has happened to your lead, and a replacement is due. Very unusual for an E30 ignition lead to fail, so second hand will be OK.

Green crap sounds like copper rust/degrading maybe? How old is the dizzy cap?
I take it you mean the 'green gunk' came out from the dizzy cap end of the HT lead.
