Hi guys,

I'm having problems with my central locking and wondered if you could give me some advice?

The locking is playing up in that sometimes when i turn the key i can hear the actuators but the door wont unlock, if i waggle the key about it it sometimes unlocks. I was wondering if i can simply remove the relay and then this will cause the locks to work without the central locking?

does that make sense? Cheers

So is the key difficult to turn?

Above is the usual result of the key being difficult to turn!
That light alloy part is at the back of the barrel, and engages with the latch...the latch goes stiff over time and the result is shown.

Strip the barrel and latch from the door, clean and lubricate the latch and work by hand until it is smooth and light in operation.

Buy a 'lock repair kit' from your local stealer, about £20 or so,you get a bag of bits to enable you to build up a new barrel to suit your key.

Finally, have a search in the zone wiki for 'red/black wire mod.',and carry that out.

First up, bicycle chain spray lube in the key slot! Use the straw and give it a good does of teflon. Most locks are completely dry now, having been WD40d into life during freezing winters and never re-lubed.
