I thought about doing this, isn't the m30 basically a boat anchor? Won't it mess up balance if you intend to chuck the car around,

A load of hearsay from people who have only opinions and not driven one.bmw9818 wrote:I thought about doing this, isn't the m30 basically a boat anchor? Won't it mess up balance if you intend to chuck the car around,
There's a few on here that track their M30's no problem or complaints.

What you need to check is wether or not when the 2.5 conversion was done, was the suspension changed to 51mm

M30 conversion is a great idea, they handle just fine. Fast as fook and sound amazing.
Just make sure you upgrade to 325i suspension, roll bars and brakes.!
Go take a look at the M30 section bags of info there, we're starting a m30 club too.! Have a chat with Rav, he's the captain.

I Enjoyed my m30 donk even though it was shagged still had tonns of torque
I recon it will be cheaper than an m50 swop as you can bolt a 2.5 exhaust up with the use of an angle grinder and very little wiring mods are needed.
Hardest part is getting a decent engine these days that isnt shagged and running them
M50 would be the cheaper in the long term fuel wise however with parts more readily available
