Just to bring any potential helper up to speed.
A number of months ago the car dead man locked with me in the CAR. A few months after that it dead man locked itself when it was running with a full tank of fuel. So that meant I had to retrieve my keys by breaking the window

I bought a central locking module hoping that would be a solution..
When I went to fit it, I found there wasn't one there...

But this little box was, the original wiring had been chopped to fit it

Image

So I soldered the wires back to the original loom and fitted the central locking module.

No success, When you try to open the car it unlocks/locks/unlocks/locks with one turn of the key.

I'm close to pulling the central locking out :x

Could the central locking be an after market retro fit kit? The only reason I ask is the presence of that little green box!?

Anyone with an tips/advice/help would be a god send!!

That's not an E30 C/L door module, it looks like an E34 one to me.
Looks like a defo bodge job.
Is it the same on the other door??

This is what an E30 one looks like in the door.

Its the same on the drivers side and boot.

I didn't even think they where oem bmw parts! No part number or bmw emblem which is odd

Defo aftermarket then.

Best to get an E30 c/l loom and put that into the car, but i think there are 2 looms, prefacelift, and facelift.

I had a look at real oem yesterday and I was suspicious when I couldn't see the part in my hand winkeye

Went through the Bentley manual wiring diagram and it was no help.

Would you recommend changing it all?

How much will this hurt my wallet if I go to BMW!!

Why go to BMW???

Do you like "Dry Bumming" sessions

Is your car a facelift or prefacelift????
If prefacelift, PM Magpie on here, he has one breaking with c/l i think.
He should be able to supple everything.

I can supply door locking solenoids as per Rav's picture, if the stealers are a bit pricey.
Also looms that go inside the doors if you need them. All where working when removed from (pre-facelift) car.
PM me if interested
Schadenfreude - the German's haven't got a word for that.

Very late E30s used locking motors mounted on top of the door latches, very similar to that on an E34, but the chances are that this is aftermarket stuff.

Mine is 1986 so its not that late. I think it is aftermarket.

There was a web of after market wiring behind the dash and under the carpet.

Also found lots of rust on the floor and rear inner arches :(

Should of bought a Kia 8O

They suffer from the same worn microswitch arrangement on top of the latches as the E34 as well. Not BMWs greatest 'upgrade'!
