A simple gearbox mount replacement job has taken a turn for the worse with the snapping of one of the bolts which holds the crossmember to the body.
Is it possible to remove/smash the remains down the slot, and put another generic bolt in to replace it, or is there more to it than that?

If you can force it down to the slot you'll be able to remove it from there.
If I remember correctly the bolts have a rectangular head to stop it spinning when it the mounting slot so I'd suggest ordering a pair of them for each side of BMW or as you say find a similar.

They not only have a rectangular head, but also a shaped underside to fit the slot. I've made myself a replacement which will do for the time being.Green wrote:If I remember correctly the bolts have a rectangular head to stop it spinning when it the mounting slot
